Very Contagious Illness Strikes: Highest Cases Since 2012!
Very contagious illness cases are surging across the US in 2024, with Illinois reporting its highest numbers since 2012. The highly contagious disease is especially affecting children, though adults can still contract it, even if vaccinated.

It’s only recently that a lot of us perhaps did not take the time to really focus on the stats being released by the CDC or even caring about the number of cases until the great ‘video of 2020 at least, discussion of a widespread illness is not unreasonably out of our grasp.
The number of cases is gradually rising from the disease in 2024. Illinois is one of the states that has been facing an increasingly high brunt of the outbreak of whooping cough, a disease that can get very painful.
Illinois has recorded over 1,900 confirmed whooping cough cases, with the highest number being reported in October at 408 cases.

These numbers, based on preliminary data for the year, are the highest for whooping cough in the state since 2012.
Earlier this month, at a high school in Chicago, the cases were reported within one week, b100quadcities.com reported.
The Illinois Department of Public Health has issued 3 health alerts recently of more Pertussis (whooping cough) in the community.
Kids at the main target
Kids have to be vaccinated to go to school, and while it is not mandatory for adults to vaccinate their children, they are encouraged to do so if they have not done so.

Whooping cough isn’t peculiar to Illinois only, but happening all over the United States of America. According to the CDC data coming up to December 2024, there are six times more pertussis cases than before this time last year. Whooping cough is a very accurate name.
Symptoms of the disease
Major symptoms include:
- Runny/stuffy nose
- A lot of coughing (obviously)
- Low-grade fever
The CDC also notes that even if you were vaccinated, you could still get it, but you are less likely to, b100quadcities.com reported.
Take antibiotics, rest, drink fluids, use a humidifier while you are sick, and cover your cough.
